Victorian photograph of The Quadrangle, Eton College and Stoke Pogues Church. Double sided photograph taken from the published album “View of Windsor”.
The photograph c1900 shows a view of the historic town of Windsor. One side shows The Quadrangle, Eton College, Windsor and the other side shows Stoke Pogues Church.
This is a genuine Victorian print of the original photograph and not modern reproduced digital copy.
The image shows the town of Windsor prior to mass motor vehicles as it would have looked in Queen Victoria and King Edward VII’s time and is a true glimpse of history. A wonderful snapshot of one of England’s most historic towns. Windsor has been one of the main residencies of the Royal family since William the Conquer built the castle in the 11th Century. Windsor Castle is the longest-occupied palace in Europe and whilst St. George's Chapel has hosted many royal occasions such as Royal Christenings and weddings.
