An Original 1892 woodcut print of ‘Bellerophon on Pegasus’ designed by Walter Crane for the Wonder book for Boys and Girls first edition
This beautiful original woodcut print was designed by one of the most notable Victorian illustrators Walter Crane. The image of Bellerophon depicts Pegasus throwing him from his back when he was stung by a gadfly sealing Bellerophon’s fate.

Condition: Overall very good condition. Some very slight foxing to the upper and left side as would be expected from a print from 1892. The image is clean and vibrant with no damage or rips.
About Walter Crane: Walter Crane was a close friend of artist William Morris, a fellow socialist, who also shared his artistic views. Together with William Morris, Walter Crane was a leader in the Art Nouveau and the Arts and Crafts artistic movements. Despite his versatility as an artist and the wide range of his subject matter, Walter Crane was always best known as a children's book illustrator. His contemporaries included fellow illustrators Kate Greenaway and Randolph Caldecott
