Antique Portrait Miniature Georgian young lady, c1800
A beautiful painted Georgian miniature portrait of a young lady named as Mrs Durham and dating to the regency period, difficult to be certain but I think her age would be around 19 or 20 years old.
The young lady is wearing a dark red off the shoulder dress with a fine lace border around the top. She is also wearing a jet necklace and gold cross and gold brooch in the center of her dress with a fur wrap around her shoulders.
Her hair is set in tight ringlets on either side of her head and painted in a three quarter length pose against a dark background.
The miniature is beautifully painted with a slight blue tint to the pallet, fine precise and confident brush strokes.
The miniature is presented behind glass in an oblong gilt bezel of a period papier Mache ebonized frame with gilt hanger ring.
In beautiful antique condition but as an antique it will carry scars from the passage of time,
dating to the regency period of 19th century it is expected to have marks or blemishes but I can see nothing that distracts from the overall image, the base has no damage, there is no loss of colour or fading, bright and sharp, there is no obvious damage to the frame, just some crazing, all commensurate with age and handling.
The size of the miniature is approx. 73mm high x 58mm wide.
The size of the frame excluding the hanger is 145mm high x 124mm wide.
